PSIML Tour ‘25
PSIML Tour 2025 – discover how AI is changing the world! Practical examples, modern tools, and inspiring demonstrations. No heavy theory, just real-world knowledge that opens the door to a career in AI.
Practical Applications of Artificial Intelligence
Dear students,
We invite you to a special lecture as part of the PSIML Tour 2025, designed for everyone who wants to step into the world of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and modern AI systems, even with no prior knowledge in the field.
For 10 years, PSIML (Practical Summer Institute of Machine Learning) has been organizing camps and mentoring students, helping them gain experience and launch their careers in the AI world through hands-on projects. During the tour, we are visiting universities across Serbia to give lectures that aim to inspire, engage, and demonstrate what it’s like to work with contemporary AI tools.
What to Expect at the Lecture
The lecture is designed to guide you through the most important areas of modern AI with real-world examples:
- Introduction to PSIML: Learn about our activities, why we’ve existed for a decade, our learning process, and how students enter the AI industry.
- Introduction to AI & ML (accessible, no math): What is a model? What does “black box” mean? What is learning from data, and how do we approach problems today?
- Computer Vision in Practice: Grounding DINO for detection, Segment Anything (SAM), Diffusion models (image generation), and applying these models, even without prior knowledge.
- The History and Idea Behind Large Language Models (LLM): An intuitive, story-driven explanation of how we got from simple models to ChatGPT and GPT-5.
- Practical LLMs and Demonstrations: Using LLMs for coding, text analysis, summaries, agents, and more.
- Audio AI, Speech, and Translation: A brief demonstration of modern models for speech, transcription, and translation.
- Ethical Application of Artificial Intelligence: The responsible use of AI, understanding risks, and why they are relevant for engineers.
Who is it for?
This lecture is primarily intended for university students with a technology background, regardless of their year of study, who:
- Want to get into AI but don’t know where to start.
- Are looking for a practical and understandable introduction without heavy theory.
- Plan to apply for a PSIML camp or want to learn about our mentorship process.
- Want to see modern AI techniques in action.
We look forward to meeting you, talking with you, and hope this lecture will encourage you to start your first AI projects. Maybe we’ll see you at the next PSIML camp! See you there!
